About the skit
Steve had a bad week. He yelled at his son about a dent in the minivan, in the driveway, while Mrs. Ortiz watched from her porch with her coffee, and he has already said he’s sorry. When he starts on who else isn’t ready, Frank, the usher holding the tray, knows something good about every one of them. Ron parks across two spaces. Ron also unlocks at six and turns on the heat.
Then Frank brings up who was at the first one: Peter. In his own words he tells Luke 22, the bread and the cup and what Jesus said to Peter at that same table, and Steve answers with 1 Corinthians 11:28. From there it plays straight, and Steve’s last line answers his first.
Two adults, a tray and a short pew, with one walk-through. The laughs are only about church life, never about the Supper. The staging notes explain that the skit takes no position on who may come to the Table, leave the words of institution to your pastor, and give a version for churches that come forward to receive.

(FRANK comes up the aisle with the tray and stops at the end of STEVE's pew, half a step behind his shoulder.)
FRANK: Steve. You're on the aisle today. When it comes down the row, take one and pass it on.
STEVE: I'll pass.
FRANK: That's what I said.
STEVE: No. I'll pass. Not today.
FRANK: (beat) What happened?
STEVE: I yelled at Connor this week. About a dent in the minivan. In the driveway. Mrs. Ortiz came out on her porch with her coffee.
FRANK: Ah.
STEVE: I told him I was sorry. He hasn't said ten words to me since. I'm not ready, Frank.
FRANK: Who is?
STEVE: (looking around the room) Plenty of people. (His eyes land on someone.) Okay, not Ron. Ron parks across two spaces.
