About the skit
Mr. Dunn comes into the school office with his checkbook already open. He forgot to put money on his son’s lunch account, three times, and the balance is eleven-forty. Mrs. Hutchins looks it up: zero. Somebody paid every lunch balance in the school on Friday, and nobody knows who. He wants the fine print. There isn’t any, unless you count a smiley face.
So he tries everything else: working it off, leaving his watch as collateral, paying the tax. Mrs. Hutchins keeps not taking any of it, and she never preaches. Then he slows down long enough to ask what he’s supposed to do now. The pastor reads Ephesians 2:8–10 right after, and the skit has set it up without quoting it.
It goes right before a sermon on grace, in the Sundays after Easter or any time of year. Two adults, one walk-through, about three minutes; either part can be a man or a woman. The staging notes cover keeping the middle fast, giving the quiet turn its pause, and keeping it clear that nobody in the skit is poor.
