About the skit
When the grown-ups go home, the presents wake up. Drum is the loudest, Bike is the fastest, Doll is the prettiest, Big Box is the biggest, and nobody wants to talk about Socks. Over by the manger sits a plain brown box with a crayon heart, and everybody laughs at it.
Little Box isn’t for anybody under the tree. Inside are notes the Sunday school kids wrote to Jesus, and the memory verse their teacher added. The bragging stops, and the last picture puts the manger right in the middle.
Five or six children, short lines, costumes made from poster board, and cuts for four or five kids. Little Box reads from the notes, so the longest part needs the least memorizing.

(Lights up, dim. The presents kneel in a cluster around the tree, very still. LITTLE BOX kneels apart from the others, right next to the manger, holding the shoebox. After a moment, DRUM peeks up.)
DRUM: (loudly) IS EVERYBODY GONE?
BIKE: (ringing the bell) Shh! Yes!
DOLL: Finally. I've been holding this pose since the potluck.
(Everyone stands up and stretches.)
DRUM: OKAY. Tomorrow's the big day. And I just want to say what everybody's thinking. I'm the best present here.
BIKE: You're the loudest present here.
DRUM: SAME THING.
BIKE: I'm the best present. I've got two wheels, a bell (ringing the bell twice) and streamers. I go fast.
DOLL: You go nowhere. You're in a box. (She fluffs her bow.) Obviously the best present is the prettiest present.
BIKE: Your bow is crooked.
DOLL: It's a style.
SOCKS: Hi. I'm socks.
(Everyone groans.)
SOCKS: Every year. Same reaction.
BIG BOX: (stepping forward) Excuse me. Hello. I'm the BIGGEST present. So I'm probably the most important.
DRUM: WHO ARE YOU FOR?
BIG BOX: I'm for... (He checks all over himself for a tag. He checks again.) ...I don't have a tag.
